Native range: Koreas, Japan

Known names: 'Shojo no mai' Japanese Maple 

Hardiness: USDA Zones 9-5

Mature Size: 8' Tall x 4' Wide

Light: Best with morning sun and afternoon shade, filtered sun 

Water: Frequent water until established, keep soil moist in pots.

Soil: Fast-draining, holds moisture well but fast-draining. Add extra pumice or pearlite into potting mix. 

Dormancy Period: Winter

Acer palmatum 'Shojo no mai' has very bright pink, uneven variegation around the edges; sometimes on the entire leaf. Similar to the more-available ‘Beni schichihenge’ but more robust overall. Very stunning even if you are not into variegated maples.
