Aphelandra squarrosa NOVA® ‘Fuego’ is  a cultivar of the zebra plant (Aphelandra squarrosa) known for its zebra-like pattern on their leaves. This cultivar has, deep, dark green to nearly black with a subtle sheen, often showing a faint lighter veil on the youngest foliage that gives an almost smoky effect. The foliage is broad, ovate to elliptic, with a dense, upright habit forming a compact bushy clump roughly around 12″ tall and 8″ wide, with overall plant height including its flowers are up to about 16″. The flower is a vertical inflorescence that emerges with intense red or golden bracts. Beautiful plant with and without flowers.
