Epiphyllum anguliger has flat, elongated stems with deeply irregular, zig-zag or fishbone-like lobes along the margins. The stems are succulent and leafless, typically a bright to medium green, and can trail or cascade several feet when grown over edges or trained on support. When mature, the overall habit is a cascading mass of interlocking, wavy stems. The flowers are large, showy, and fragrant, typically creamy white to pale yellow with long, narrow outer petals that give them "a starburst" appearance. They open primarily at night and can reach 6–8 inches across.
