Mimosa pudica is a short-lived evergreen perennial plant with fine, fern-like compound leaves arranged along thin, creeping stems. The leaves rapidly fold inward when touched, shaken, or exposed to sudden changes in light!!! Stems are slender and may develop small thorns as the plant matures. It spreads outward rather than upward. The flowers are small, spherical pink to lavender pom-poms made up of many tiny florets.
