Nephrolepis exaltata is an arching evergreen fern featuring long, narrow fronds densely lined with small, alternating pinnae (leaflets) that create a lush, feathery texture. Newly emerging croziers (fiddle neck shaped new growth) unfurl in a soft, bright lime-green tone before hardening off into vibrant emerald-green foliage as the fronds mature. It forms a dense, bushy rosette of cascading foliage that spreads steadily by producing thin, fibrous stolons (runners). In cultivation, it requires a site with morning sun, half day sun, dappled light, or a frosted window. Requires rich, moist, well-draining organic soil. Its species name exaltata derives from Latin meaning "lofty" or "tall," referencing the grand, upright, and arching habit of its mature fronds.
