Pachira glabra

Native range: Eastern Brazil

Known names: Money Tree, Braided Money Tree, Bombacopsis glabra, misidentified as: Pachira aquatica, Guinea Chestnut

Hardiness: Best above freezing. 

Mature Size: ~50' tall in native range, much smaller indoors.

Plant Size: grown in 4" pot, shipped semi bare root

 

Deeply palmate leaves on long petiole attrached to woody stems. Flowers are similar to mimosa but with five petals at the base. This plant won't flower unless it is grown outside however... Usually found as a braided plant, plant can fuse after several years; unless unbraided.
