Tephrocactus articulatus v. papyracanthus

Native range: Western Argentina

Known names: Pine Cone Cactus, Spruce Cone Cactus

Hardiness: Can take down to 20°F if kept dry in winter.

Mature Size: Grows to ~15" inches tall.

Light: Bright direct sun, Full Sun

Water: Water during summer (let soil dry out completely), keep pretty dry during winter.

Soil: Cactus/Succulent mix

This Tephrocactus looks like a grey, powdery spruce cone with long, flat spines!  New growth produces sharp spines and glochids but will fall off with age. Produces pads that falls off fairly easily but can also root fairly easily.
